SOFTEC 10X TE Buffer is a component of SOFTEC nucleic acid isolation kits. It is used to re-suspend the last purified nucleic acid pellet. This buffer contains a very low proportion of EDTA, so it is compatible with sequencing and other enzymatic applications. Tris with a pH value of 8 provides the maximum buffering capacity for nucleic acid with a pH value around 7.5-8.0, while EDTA chelates metal ions that can act as cofactors for nucleases.
